Rumor has it that the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Avengers: Secret Wars, might not be a single, epic movie after all. Could it be that the Russo Brothers' grand vision for the MCU is actually a trilogy? But here's where it gets controversial... While some might argue that extending the saga could be a smart move, others might question the wisdom of dividing a potentially monumental story into multiple parts. What do you think? Would you be excited or disappointed if Avengers: Secret Wars became a trilogy?
According to John Rocha of The Hot Mic, a source has revealed that the film could run for three hours and might be split into two parts. This isn't the first time such a claim has been made, but it certainly adds an interesting twist to the ongoing MCU plans. The film's reshoots are still scheduled for April, with production set to begin over the summer. Despite the lack of a finished script, which is common for many MCU movies, the constant state of flux is nothing new for these blockbusters.
The Russo Brothers, who are set to direct Avengers: Doomsday, have hinted at their future with the MCU. They explained that their return was due to the right story, and they're eager to continue their involvement. While they're currently attached to direct X-Men, there are exciting possibilities beyond that, including Wolverine, Fantastic Four 2, and various universe-altering team-ups not centered around The Avengers. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios will likely have to decide whether Secret Wars becomes a trilogy before seeing the response to Doomsday this December.
Meanwhile, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is set to begin filming in March, with a potential 2027 launch on Disney+. The cast of Avengers: Secret Wars, including Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Sadie Sink, Benedict Cumberbatch, Letitia Wright, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Bettany, Simu Liu, and Hayley Atwell, is now confirmed. The film will be directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron, who previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises.
