Kory Mincy is on Fire! George Mason University's Kory Mincy, a junior on the men's basketball team, has just been awarded his second A-10 Player of the Week title this season! This announcement came from the league office on Monday morning.
It's impressive, especially considering this is Mincy's second time receiving this honor in just four weeks!
In a recent game against Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, Mincy showcased his skills by scoring a game-high 26 points. He also contributed four assists and snagged two steals. What's more, he was accurate from beyond the arc, making 2 out of 4 three-point attempts, and almost perfect at the free-throw line, sinking 10 out of 11 shots.
Mincy's performance this season has been nothing short of spectacular. He's leading the A-10 in scoring, averaging an impressive 18.1 points per game, and also leads in minutes played per game at 35:08. He's a top contender in three-pointers made per game, ranking third with 2.67. He also shines in assist/turnover ratio, holding the third spot with 2.24, and ranks fifth in assists per game, averaging 3.9.
But here's where it gets controversial... Nationally, Mincy is a standout, ranking third in free throw percentage with an outstanding .962 and 18th in 3pt FG percentage with .485.
Earlier this season, he set a new school record by making 48 consecutive free throws without a miss!
Mincy and the Patriots are preparing to conclude their non-conference play on Sunday, December 28th, with a home game against Penn, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
