Can you imagine a horse defying the odds and winning not once, but twice in under 24 hours? That's exactly what Eagles Whistle, a horse with a modest rating of 38, achieved, leaving everyone in awe. But the story doesn't end there; a quick hat-trick might be in the cards!
Eagles Whistle's recent victories at Newcastle are nothing short of remarkable. After a surprising win on Friday over 7 furlongs at the course, she repeated the feat the very next day in the opening division of the mile classified contest. Despite carrying a 5lb penalty, the six-year-old, ridden by Jason Hart, secured another win, this time by a length and a half, with odds of 7-2.
Before joining Daragh Bourke, Eagles Whistle had a winless streak of 13 starts in Ireland. Now, under her new ownership by Edward and Rose Ltd, she's undefeated!
But here's where it gets controversial... The owners are eyeing a potential hat-trick at Wolverhampton on Monday, with the enticing Arc all-weather bonus of up to £20,000 up for grabs. This is in addition to the £40,000 top prize already won by Dartrey.
Bourke's excitement is palpable. He shared with Sky Sports Racing, "We’ve got to go, haven’t we?" He highlighted the bonus as a fantastic opportunity, especially for his small team of 21 horses. He also mentioned that Eagles Whistle was purchased for a mere £2,500.
One of the owners, who is also Bourke's best man, jokingly exclaimed, "This game’s easy – it’s the first horse we’ve bought!"
And this is the part most people miss... The race at Wolverhampton will be a step up in distance to 1m1½f, with Shane Gray set to ride. Hart believes the extra distance will be beneficial for the horse.
